Front end papers include quotations from the book, West's long-term projects, and questions including, the meaning of "our ghastly century", why is "Black strivings in a twilight civilization" (1996) the one work West wants to survive? Also includes a chronology of academic West's academic affiliations and questions on philosophy and political philosophers. Annotations continue on to half-title and the back endpapers concerning religion, West's writings and music. Underlinings related to music, race and poetry.
